Designer Home and the Mortgage-Free Possibility

The world is changing and so is the concept of living in a home for 30 years until a mortgage is paid off. Actually, the idea of even having a mortgage is rapidly changing too. And it’s not just the mortgage, it’s the ancillary expenses that come into play with owning a home.  For instance, maintenance expenses, Home Owners Association fees and property taxes play a large roll in a homeowners’ monthly debt service.  These fees can hinder a young family from achieving their financial goals and creating a better long-term quality of life for their family.

Thankfully, it’s now much more of a reality to live comfortably in a beautiful home, all while being mortgage-free. How does a young family accomplish this? It’s about thinking outside the box and reinventing the idea of what a home is or should be. It takes some ingenuity, and the willingness to compromise space for possibility. If it’s not a trend yet, it should be: It’s called manufactured home living.

For 3 years, Dustin and his wife Alicia lived in a remodeled manufactured home that was pretty close to being the home of their dreams. It featured a newly renovated kitchen with shaker-style cabinets, a farmhouse sink, open concept living area, three bedrooms, two bathrooms with new sinks, faucets, designer mirrors and tempered glass shower in the master bath. The kitchen overlooked a covered patio with room for a couch, grill, table and plants. The manicured lawns were meticulously cared for by the community and the couple grew carrots, celery and garlic in a small garden in their front lawn, overlooking a large bougainvillea tree.

The couple entertained guests, had quiet nights watching movies and sipping on a glass of wine, and lived quite happily and mortgage-free. What made this lifestyle possible was that they opted for smaller square footage. However, their lifestyle was similar to what others would experience in a larger home. They also thought beyond the traditional “home” and chose a manufactured home. Disregarding previous misconceptions about manufactured homes, the couple found that living in a manufactured home was not much different than a traditional house, and the financial benefits of not having a mortgage for three years made the choice well-worth it in the end.

This beautifully renovated home located in the coveted Timberlake Estates community in Wesley Chapel, Florida is now for sale. Contact Dustin at (813)892-9886 for a showing today.
